Default GW/GW2 Question

hey, I played GW once and I didnt like it really I think cause it was the demo and now I plan to buy the game without expansions to see if I like it. Also if I make a char on GW will he be in the char list for GW2? I think GW2 is another game not expansion, but im making sure.

GW2 is (will be) a completely different game, not an expansion. So no, characters will not be able to go from 1 to the other. However, there will be a mechanic in place for GW1 players to reserve their GW character names for GW2.

Also, there is a Hall of Monuments (HoM) in the Eye of the North expansion where you can put things like weapons and armor (only high end stuff though) and gain some kind of non-gameplay/cosmetic based benefits in GW2. We don't have any idea what this is yet.

the demo or free trial does kinda suck because of the limitations built in. Although if your going to buy the game i recommend getting the trilogy pack. It is about $40 at retail outlets a lot cheaper than buying all three separately.

By "plan to buy the game without expansions" I assume you mean buy Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. If that is the case you might as well buy EotN. Anet have said that there will be a mechansim for existing character name reservation but it hasn't been announced/implemented yet.

You can reserve names of past characters from GW to use in GW2. However, characters cannot trvael between the 2 games, as GW2 takes place 250 years after GW1

How do you go about reserving, it's not a cash shop thing is it? Or is it your names from your account are automatically reserved?

From my understanding of various dev talks, all character names on accounts in good standing will be reserved in GW2. When you link your GW1 and 2 accounts, you will be able to use your old names.

The name reserving is through Hall of Monuments in the Eye of the North expansion pack. But then whats the point, if you don't fill it up you won't get the benifits of the hall anyway.
